On March 21, 2014 at approximately 1:31 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the Brooklyn Park Library for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims who were both suffering from multiple gunshot injuries. Both victims were transported by ambulance to The University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.

Officers quickly discovered that the shooting occurred in nearby Brooklyn Heights Park and not within the Library. Investigation revealed that the victims were sitting on a bench in the park when two suspects approached them and begin shooting at them.

Due to the proximity of the incident to Park Elementary School, the school was immediately placed on lock down as a precaution. Officers were able to determine that the suspects fled toward Brookwood Rd. Out of an abundance of caution, officers searched the school and declared it safe. Numerous officers were on hand for a modified dismissal.

Although the investigation remains active and fluid, preliminary information suggests that this was a targeted incident. The victims, ages 24 and 22, are both from the Brooklyn area of Anne Arundel County. They both are being treated for non life threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition.

Numerous officers from searched the area for the suspects, but they were met with negative results.
