Nearly 400 voters, elected officials and community members attended the Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Forum Thursday. The forum, organized by several local Republican clubs as well as the Anne Arundel County Republican Central Committee was planned as a way to inform the community about the gubernatorial candidates who will appear on the primary election ballot this June.
Of the five candidates slated to run in the primary, Ron George, Charles Lollar, Brian Vaeth and David Craig were in attendance. The fifth candidate, Larry Hogan, was unable to be present due to a scheduling conflict.
During the forum, moderated by Central Committee Chairman Nathan Volke, candidates were asked questions varying in topic from gun control to the rain tax to common core educational curriculum. Anne Arundel County Breaking News and Events was on site, live tweeting a summary of the questions asked and answers given. A synopsis of the event can be found on our Twitter page.
Throughout the debate, the candidates expressed a mutual desire to come together as a party in order to secure a republican win in the next election. ”All four of us have agreed that on June 25, we’re coming together to support the winner so we (the Republican Party) can win,” said Craig.
