Arrest made in Maryland Live! garage robbery

Citizen Armed Robbery (Update)                                                                                    Hanover


On April 5, 2014, at approximately 6:57 a.m., members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to the Maryland Live! Casino parking garage located in the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred.


The victim reported that he exited the casino some time earlier and was sitting in his parked car with a female companion. He then advised that he was approached by a suspect who demanded money from him. The victim complied and the suspect took the money and left the parking garage in a black Nissan Altima. The victim was uninjured in the incident. Detectives developed several leads and began following up on those leads.


Suspect: Black male, approximately 5’10”, 185 pounds, wearing a light-colored zip-up style jacket, blue jeans, athletic shoes, and a green and white baseball style hat. The suspect was armed with an unknown make/model semi-auto black handgun and was last seen driving a black Nissan Altima.




On Sunday, April 6, 2014, the Western District Detective Unit received an anonymous call from a citizen indicating that they knew the whereabouts of the vehicle that was used by the suspect during the aforementioned robbery at the Maryland Live! Casino on Saturday, April 5, 2014.  According to the caller, the vehicle was at an undisclosed address in District Heights, Maryland.


Detectives then drove to the residence and observed a black vehicle that was backed into the driveway with a car cover partially covering it. While conducting surveillance on the vehicle, the vehicle then drove away from the residence. A traffic stop was subsequently conducted on that vehicle along with a second vehicle that left the residence at the same time. An individual inside of the second vehicle was the person believed to be involved in the robbery.  That individual was then taken to the Prince George’s County Police Department for questioning.  While there, the suspect’s involvement in the robbery was confirmed. Additionally, the suspect provided detectives with the location of evidence from the robbery to include the pellet gun that he used during the incident. Detectives then responded to that location and recovered the items.


The suspect was then taken to the Western District where he was charged with the following charges: two counts of Armed Robbery, two counts of Robbery, two counts of First Degree Assault and two counts of Theft along with a Firearm Used in a Violent/ Felony Crime. The suspect is currently committed to the Detention Center on $200,000 bond.
